A.R. Rockstar

I don't know how many of you are familiar with the accelerated reader program. The schools do it here and each book is assigned a number of AR points. That number increases with the difficulty of the book. Well, Porter, our very avid reader has ate, drank and breathed AR points all year. He loves keeping daily track of how many he has earned. Several times during the year, the school opens a little AR store and kids can use their points to buy things like folders and mechanical pencils. Porter stayed up late in bed the night before to finish a book and had me take him to school early so that he could test on the book before the store opened. He went to the store with .....400 AR points!!! The next highest point accumulation was 68! The operators of the store just told him to walk through and take whatever he wanted, they had nothing assigned to point values higher than 100. He was so proud! He got this medal and gets to have lunch with the principal, along with all the pencils and folders he could want. What can I say, my kid is kind of a nerd. But I am so glad that he enjoys learning and that he likes to read!
