Stop the Voices!

Me: "Noah, why didn't you pick up the toys when I told you to?"

Noah: "I didn't know you asked me to."

Me: "Yes, you did. You were looking right at me."

Noah: "Well, sometimes I hear voices in my head that sound like you, but you aren't really calling me."

Ohhhhh boy.

An Encouraging Word

Emily was playing with something that Noah wanted and this is how the conversation went down.

Noah: "Mom, will you make Emily give that to me?"

Me: "No, Noah, I won't make her give that to you just because you want it. She had it first."

Noah: "Well, would you encourage her?"

He's a winner!

Porter participated in the National History Day Fair this week. His gifted and talented class prepared a group project about Nathan Hale, the first American spy who operated during the Revolutionary War. They won first place!! They were judged, not only on their finished display and bibliography, but also on an interview with the judges. Now they get to work on their project some more and get it ready to take to State competition in April!
Great work, guys!!

Field Trip

Last week we took a field trip to a local farm to see some sheep being sheared. Lots of sheep.

The pictures pretty much tell the story. I only wish I had taken a picture of our shoes when we got back to the car! They were SOO muddy! It was something that was cool to see. And it didn't even smell bad, which made me happy. I had been told that sheep shearing stinks like nothing else. Of course, we did have a strong Idaho wind that day. We are going back to the same farm in a few weeks at lambing time. One of the perks of homeschooling.

Emily's Baptism

Emily was baptized on January 30th by her daddy. She got to plan her own program and had a lot of fun with that. Originally she wanted only kids on the program. Porter and Sammy gave talks, Sara and Parker gave the prayers, and all the grandkids sang a special musical number. We did persuade her to have her grandmas speak for a few minutes too. Kevin had to be the voice for Grandma George, as they are on their mission in Liberty, Missouri. We really missed having them here. It was great to have everyone here to support Emily on her special day!

I am so proud of my little girl and the person she is becoming. I am proud of the decisons that she is making and the interests that she has. I love her with all my heart.

Timbri is going to do a photoshoot of her in her baptism dress. We will have to post those when they are done because mine are not very good. I bought her dress probably about five years ago because the store was going out of business and I loved it. Grandma had to do a little altering to get it to fit but she was beautiful!!
