This is our first official week of summer vacation. After a week-long field trip/extended family vacation to the Oregon Coast (which I will post about soon) we are home to warm weather, blue skies and green leaves. My absolute favorite time of the year, hands down.
Kevin and I put the kids to bed and took a walk the other night. It was 9:30 p.m. The sunset was an amazing array of blazing pink hues. The air smelled of fresh cut alfalfa. It was still warm and light outside and it seemed all was right with the world.
I am already loving sleeping with the windows open, waking to sun streaming into my room, clean sheets blowing in the breeze on the clothesline, walks on the nature trail, dinner on the back patio. I am enjoying not having school lessons to prepare for the next day so I can tuck the kids in bed and cuddle up on the couch to watch movies with my hubs instead. (don't tell anyone, but I think he is addicted to Gilmore Girls.)
Last night was an idyllic summer evening. Mowing the lawn, eating on the patio, playing baseball in the yard with the kids, weeding flowerbeds, having a waterfight, lighting the tiki torches and staying out late. Some people say that living in a place without four seasons gets old -- but somehow I don't believe them.
