Update

Just an update of a few of the things we have been up to lately....

We have done some of this,

And quite a bit of this,

and some painting and decorating,

And some of this,

And, when we are lucky enough to get sunshine, we like to do this,

While we look forward to days when we can do this,

Don't worry, most of us will have clothes on!

Man of Many Masks

Noah wanted only one thing for his fifth birthday. Dress-ups. As an afterthought, he also told us we could get him some seeds. (What 5 year old wants seeds for his birthday, I ask you!) Well, mom's gift ideas were not that spectacular. I got him glow-in-the-dark transformer underwear (fun, yet practical) and a few packages of pea seeds. But the rest of the family delivered and he was as happy as a ...

Knight, but not just any knight, this is the Knight of the Blue Falcon!

Cowboy, Complete with chaps!

Wild Indian! On his birthday, we spent the afternoon playing indians. We made feather headresses and put on warpaint with washable markers. Doesn't he look fierce?

That evening we went bowling and had pizza and root beer.

The best thing about birthdays in our family the last few years is that they last a long time. While a birthday is traditionally just that, a day, ours always turn out to be several. The actual day of birth is the day to pick the activities. We might go to a movie or out to eat or bowling or swimming. The birthday child gets to pick the menu for the day as well. But, since some of our extended family is only here on the weekends, we always save the cake and ice cream party for a day that they are here, too. And don't forget the birthday breakfast provided by Grandma and Papa and Timbri. We find room for doughnuts on a morning near our birthdays as well. I guess you could say we really celebrate each other in this family!

Porter's Birthday

Just thought I needed to quickly confirm that, yes, Porter did have a birthday this year. 11 years old. It didn't hit me until Conference time when I realized that next year he will be old enough to attend the priesthood session. My little boy is growing up.

More laughs from my boy

I was doing some schoolwork with Noah today. He had a page of random letters and he had to circle all the 'c's. He was working away and I said, "Good job, Noah! What is that letter?"

He answered (pointing to another c), "It's the same as that one."

"I know," I responded, but what is its name?"

He looked at me with a silly grin and guessed, "Larry?"
